It gives me great personal satisfaction to write a reference for Allen Hallett. Allen and his wife have been friends of my wife and myself for some sixteen years, during which time we have collected 22 limited edition wildlife sculptures which he has created. During some 20 years working in Southern Africa, and with the close affinity for South African wildlife, I can honestly say that I have never seen any work by other sculptors which so consistently capture the movement and nuances of wildlife with such realism and detail.
Allen’s early career as a Game Ranger obviously provides him with a fantastic grounding when it comes to depicting African wildlife, but he also has the ability to capture and create similar realism detail and patina in other subjects. He has also undertaken corporate commissions for very large South African companies – some of which have been life size sculptures. In addition his bronzes have been included and sold in the Christies & David Shepard Wildlife Auctions in London. My wife and I are now retired and back in Australia and being surrounded by Allen’s work is a constant joy to us, an a reminder of our life in Africa. His bronzes are most admired by all our friends, some of whom have purchased limited editions and had them shipped to Australia.
